Planning: <1. Her Majesty's Armed Forces 21-gun Salute. Our silence is required during this salute.> <2. We lead off with the Singing of O Canada (1 min 30 seconds)> <3. Rick Galbraith: 1 minute> Welcome to the First Canada Day Praise and Worship event, sponsored by The Winnipeg Chapter, Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship of Canada. Today we are gathered together to worship Jesus Christ in the context of Canada Day, to symbolically Link the worship of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ with the celebration of the birth of our Nation. Today, we are going to Let the Praises Ring. I'm asking you all to rise at this point, and repeat with me that great statement of our common faith, the Apostle's Creed: <4.The Apostles' Creed: (55 seconds)> I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate: was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. God has had his hand on Canada from the beginning. The very name of our country, from Confederation on, is The Dominion of Canada. Do you know how our country was named? According to one account, it was as he attended one of the Founding Conventions, in Charlottetown or Quebec City, that one of the Fathers of Confederation opened his Bible for his morning devotions and read from Psalm 72, verse 8: "He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth." It was this that led to the choice of the name, "The Dominion of Canada." "Canada's motto "A Mari usque ad Mare" (From sea to sea) is based on this same scripture: The first official use of this motto came in 1906 when it was engraved on the head of the mace of the Legislative Assembly of the new Province of Saskatchewan. The wording of the motto came to the attention of Sir Joseph Pope, then Under Secretary of State, who was impressed with its meaning. He later proposed it as motto for the new design of the coat of arms, which was approved by Order in Council on April 21, 1921 and by Royal Proclamation on November 21, 1921." When I was a young person, the hymnal used in our prebyterian church had an anthem to Canada, to the tune of O Canada, which had the line, "Lord of the Lands make Canada thine own." National and Christian fervor have been combined over the years. Today, we are here to encourage the combining of our devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ with our longing for His graciousness to again take hold of Canada. So as we sing, we are singing to an audience of one, the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. So now, I invite you, Don MacCormack, and you, fellow believers, to "Let the Praises Ring." ..... 1. Come, Now is the Time to Worship. 2. Take Us to the River. 3. Lord, I lift Your Name on High 4. Jesus, All For Jesus 5. Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus 6. O Lord, You're Beautiful 7. Faithful One, So Unchanging 8. Majesty
